India's World Cup Squad Out Today. Inside Details On Who's In, Who's Out
Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma and Prasidh Krishna were not retained in the Indian squad for the ODI World Cup 2023.

The eagerly anticipated announcement of India's ODI World Cup 2023 team is set to take place today. Sources have revealed that Ajit Agarkar, the head of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee, made a trip to Sri Lanka to engage in discussions with the team management and finalize the squad.
The selected squad for the ODI World Cup largely mirrors the one recently chosen for the Asia Cup 2023 by the BCCI. However, due to the World Cup squad being limited to 15 members, some adjustments were necessary. Notably, wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson didn't secure a spot, while the returning KL Rahul earned his place.
When Agarkar unveiled the Indian squad for the Asia Cup, he hinted at a similar composition for the ODI World Cup. However, the Asia Cup squad comprised 17 members, including Samson as a backup for Rahul. Given the World Cup's stricter squad size, two players from the main squad had to be omitted.
It has been disclosed that the two players to be excluded from the roster are Tilak Varma and Prasidh Krishna. Varma had received his debut ODI call-up for the Asia Cup, while Krishna made the cut after a prolonged injury hiatus. Among the returning players, Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul all secured places in India's World Cup squad.
Among the notable absentees, Yuzvendra Chahal, who was not part of the Indian squad for the Asia Cup, also missed out on a spot in the World Cup squad. Despite his challenges in the 50-over format, Suryakumar Yadav retained his position in the squad.
The likely squad for India in the World Cup 2023 includes Rohit Sharma (captain), Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, KL Rahul (wicket-keeper), Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah.
