A senior figure within the Women and Child Development department of the Delhi government is now entangled in a child abuse case, accused of repeatedly raping his friend's 14-year-old daughter over the course of several months.
The Delhi Police have taken action by filing a First Information Report (FIR) against the senior official, citing multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code and the stringent POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, designed to combat cases of child abuse. Additionally, charges have been pressed against the official's wife, who is believed to have played a role in facilitating the abuse of the minor.
The victim, identified as a Class XII student, lost her father in 2020, following which the accused purportedly brought her into his home.
Allegedly, the accused engaged in several instances of rape between 2020 and 2021. When the teenager became pregnant as a result of these alleged assaults, the accused reportedly shared this information with his wife. According to the victim's statement to the police, the official's wife instructed their son to acquire medications, and the termination of the pregnancy took place within the confines of their home.
The minor girl, who is currently undergoing treatment, is yet to formally present her statement before a magistrate.
The Delhi Police are intensifying their investigation into these grave allegations against the senior official, aiming to uncover more details about the case.
