In their opening match In Pallekele in Sri Lanka the defending Champions of the Asia Cup , the Srilankans defeated a very much deflated Bangladeshi team after the Bangladeshi team batting first could manage only a lowly 164. In their reply .Sadeera Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka made resolute fifties after Matheesha Pathirana’s hostile bowling along with spinner Theekshana as Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by five wickets in their Asia Cup opener on Thursday. Among the Bangladeshis only Shanto could manage 89.
The home side then rode on Samarawickrama’s 54 off 77 balls and Asalanka’s unbeaten 62 off 92 balls to overhaul the target in 39 overs.Now the Bangladeshis have to defeat Afghanistan to stay in the tournament as the Lankans have made it to the second round!.
