US President Joe Biden Lands in India for G20 Summit, Stays at ITC Maurya Hotel

US President Joe Biden has arrived in India for the two-day G20 Summit taking place on September 9 and 10. He is amongst key leaders from G20 nations attending the event. During his visit, President Biden, along with the US delegation, will be accommodated at the ITC Maurya Hotel, a renowned 5-star property situated in Chanakyapuri, within New Delhi's Diplomatic Enclave.

Due to the president's visit, there has been a significant increase in security measures in and around the area. Both police and paramilitary forces have been stationed outside the hotel. Additionally, certain roads have faced vehicular movement restrictions. It is also reported that the US Secret Service commandos will be responsible for the security within the hotel's premises.

The ITC Maurya boasts a rich history of hosting US presidents, including figures such as Bill Clinton, George W Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump. The hotel is known for its 411 rooms and 26 suites, each reflecting a remarkable blend of luxury and aesthetics. During Donald Trump's visit in 2020, he resided in the Grand Presidential Suite. For security protocols, most of the hotel staff were restricted access to the suite, a measure also taken during the stays of George Bush and Barack Obama.

President Biden, expressing his enthusiasm for the summit, shared on Twitter: "I'm headed to the G20 – the premier forum for international economic cooperation – focused on making progress on Americans' priorities, delivering for developing nations, and showing our commitment to the G20 as a forum that can deliver. Every time we engage, we get better."

On Friday evening, after his arrival in Delhi, Biden participated in a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the latter's residence.
